CJ’s undergraduate degree was in English Literature from the University of Portland. After graduating, CJ worked for New Vision Wilderness Therapy where they were a Wilderness Guide for two years. The students CJ worked with inspired them to pursue a masters degree in counseling. CJ graduated from Naropa University with their degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Mindfulness Transpersonal Counseling. CJ has experience in youth, adults, family systems, and the LGBTQPIA+ population.
While working towards their degree, CJ’s practicum was at a Equine Assisted facility that primarily focused on youth groups. CJ interned at an Animal Assisted facility that primarily focused on Family Systems, and individual counseling.
CJ’s therapeutic methods empathize social justice, strength based, and client centered approaches. CJ’s genuine and empathetic manner meets students where they are at and allows for them to be themselves. CJ incorporates knowledge from Gestalt techniques, Synergetic Play Therapy, and mindfulness to help students find empowerment, attachment to themselves, and find their own inner wisdom.
CJ is from the Northern California and Portland Oregon area where they grew up backpacking the Pacific Northwest. In CJ’s free time they like to go backpacking, foraging, animal tracking, and crafting.
