Ryder was born and raised in a small fishing town along the southern coast of Massachusetts. Growing up, he could often be found exploring the rugged mountains to the north in New Hampshire and Maine. Ryder earned his B.A. in Sports Management with a focus on Recreation paired with minors in Marketing and General Business from a small private university in Florida. Ryder has been a Wilderness First Responder since 2013 and is always looking to grow his knowledge and outdoor skills through educational courses and certifications. He is passionate about using the natural world as a source of personal growth and reflection and believes that effective growth is rooted in experiential learning. Ryder enjoys the outdoors, adventure, and helping others to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
In his free time, Ryder is an avid outdoor and adventure enthusiast most often with his dog, Maverick, by his side. Prior to Dragonfly, Ryder fueled his need for outdoor adventure through becoming an avid “weekend warrior” on weekends by climbing mountains, backpacking and camping, chasing waterfalls and seeking out cliff jumpin’ swimming holes. He has completed through hikes of the 2,190-mile Appalachian Trail as well as the 272-mile Long Trail and has climbed the One Hundred Highest Mountains in New England. Ryder also enjoys mountaineering, snowboarding, gardening, nature and landscape photography, DIY projects, fishing, mountain biking, and playing or watching team sports- specifically football.
