Rae is an alumna of Michigan state University where she studied Psychology. She spent four years working in group homes for mentally-ill and developmentally disabled adults before discovering her passion for growing food. Rae spent two years learning to farm on small organic farms in Northern Michigan. She was then able to combine her passion for motivating young people and growing food working at at small Michigan boarding school. She created a year round food growing and composting program that connected students and staff to their food systems and brought awareness to the waste stream.
She is passionate about growing food, getting that food into the kitchen, and composting what is left! Rae enjoys making sustainability accessible and delights in the endless learning and discovery involved in farming. Her experience is that farming offers incredible opportunities for self discovery and growth. As a new transplant to Oregon, she can’t wait to see all it has to offer!
