Benji brings a wealth of experience to the Dragonfly team in Ashland. He has experience working in the educational, horticultural, and medical fields. Most recently, Benji led young adults in rites of passage on the Big Island of Hawaii and voyaged around the Hawaiian Islands. In the past, he worked on a Permaculture farm in rural Costa Rica, published a travelogue about his experiences through Eurasia, and explored his roots in southern India. In his role as a Mentor, Benji helps students build independent living skills by engaging with them in outdoor adventures, building on their creative outlets, and cooking ethnic and healthy foods. As a mentor, he aspires to set an example as a passionate and caring leader and to hold students accountable to their hopes and dreams. Drawing from his medical experience, Benji is also the Ashland medication manager and oversees the proper organization and communication of all student medications. Benji sees the world as his classroom and seeks to embrace compassion and empathy daily. On his off time, he loves trail running, spending time outdoors, writing poetry, and playing guitar.
