Academics

So much to learn

Most Dragonfly students have had difficulty developing or consistently executing the skills necessary to live a healthy, balanced, and successful life in college and beyond.

All students are encouraged to complete high school and continue their education at the post-secondary level — even if this is only to experience a few classes and learn what is required in terms of time management, study skills and self-discipline necessary to succeed educationally.

Educational opportunities available in Klamath and Ashland

The Klamath Falls community offers a variety of educational options for young adults including:

  • Oregon Tech, the only accredited poly-technical college in Oregon specializing in engineering, healthcare fields, business, applied psychology, communication, and industrial technology. They also offer general education classes such as speech, math, and writing. Oregon Tech offers non-admit status. If a student takes six or fewer credits, (one or two classes), they do not have to fully apply to the college. They’ll still receive transferable credit and pay in-state tuition. It’s a useful way to get back into the flow of academics.
  • Klamath Community College (KCC) offers a variety of classes both for credit and non-credit.
  • College of Cosmetology is also conveniently located in Klamath Falls.

For students who have not completed high school, Dragonfly supports:

The Ashland community also offers a variety of educational options including:

Academic Support

“The resources are all there – it is a matter of applying yourself.”
-Lindsey, Dragonfly student

We offer academic mentoring and tutoring, a study lab, and weekly supported study halls.

Dragonfly has an Academic Director on the Ashland and Klamath Falls Campus. They aid students throughout their personal education process. The Academic Director works with students to create a personal education plan. They facilitate the process of class selection and enrollment, order text books and supplies, keep tabs on student progress, provide academic support, and help students develop strategies to set them on the path of academic success.

We give students the skills necessary for accessing academic support after completion of our program.

Students are encouraged to:

  • Seek help from and communicate with professors about grades and progress.
  • Access free peer tutoring services on each campus.
  • Proactively seek accommodations for learning disabilities if necessary.
  • Attend and organize study groups.
  • Make appointments with the career center.
