Meet the Team
Mona has a doctorate in Leadership and Change through Antioch University where her research focused specifically on young adults in treatment. She is also a graduate of Portland State University with a Master’s in Social Work and a graduate of Prescott College with a B.A. in Human Development and Wilderness Leadership. She has worked with a variety of populations, including women survivors of breast cancer and Native Alaskan teenagers dealing with substance abuse issues. Mona has led therapeutic wilderness trips taught college-level outdoor courses and wilderness skills such as rock climbing, skiing, kayaking, glacier travel, and backpacking. Her graduate internships included working at hospice, a drug and alcohol outpatient program and as a counselor at Oregon Institute of Technology. While at OIT she received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Suicide Assessment and Prevention.
Mona loves working with people and is a natural-born therapist with a gift for helping young adults “let go” and accept their situation so they can begin building meaningful lives. Mona has a clear understanding of family dynamics and an ability to help families move from crisis into stability. She particularly loves program development and creates an environment where staff and students alike engage in the process of growth and change.
Position: Executive Director
As of January 2021, Phillip Squibb, LCSW, returned to Dragonfly as the new Executive Director. Prior to Dragonfly, Phillip and his wife, Amanda, traveled the country directing and acting in children’s theater productions with Missoula Children’s Theater. He also worked for eight years as a special education teacher and a school social worker in the Chicago area. In 2012 Phillip moved with his family from the Chicago area to Klamath Falls where he worked for Dragonfly from 2012 to 2018, initially as a therapist and then as Academic Director. He then went on to the position of Director of Developmental Disabilities Services for Klamath County. In 2020, Phillip and his family spent 6 months traveling in an RV across the country. Phillip returned to Dragonfly because he believes in the mission of the program and the students we serve.
Phillip and his family are well networked in the community of Klamath Falls. He is a servant leader and embodies the core values that we hold important at Dragonfly. He understands the core of Dragonfly and what makes us unique. Outside of Dragonfly, Phillip is currently a member of the Kiwanis Club, where he works with their nonprofit to install accessible equipment in community parks. He also volunteers with Special Olympics.
In his free time, Phillip loves traveling with his family (including Rigg$, their dog), glamping in his RV, and he likes training and trying to compete in triathlons.
Position: Academic and Vocational Director
An Oregon native, Liz earned her Bachelors degree in Sociology from University of Oregon and her Masters in Teaching from Concordia University in Portland, OR. Liz is a certified behavioral coach from her time as an Academic coach at a therapeutic program in Bend, OR. After traveling the Pan-American highway with her husband and dog, she landed in Klamath Falls and went back to teaching in the classroom, eventually turning back to her desire to work with college students, found herself here at Dragonfly as the Academic Director. As the Academic Director, Lis will bring the experiences from both teaching and coaching to provide academic skills and accountability to her students.
As the Academic Director at Dragonfly, Liz is responsible for completing academic assessments for new students, teaching study skills, assisting students in class registration and future college planning, communicating with professors about student progress and connecting students with disability services and activities around campus.
In her spare time, Liz enjoys van camping with her family, riding mountain and road bikes, skiing and baking cookies.
Position: Executive Clinical Director
In addition to his extensive clinical background prior to joining Dragonfly Transitions as Executive Clinical Director, Mark served as Director of Clinical Quality for an integrated healthcare agency. Mark also holds a master’s degree in school counseling and has a breadth of professional experience as a teacher, school counselor and head of school. Mark holds a deep sense of learning styles, learning differences, and student engagement strategies to skillfully help young adults effectively utilize their learning preferences to advance their personal growth.
Mark is dedicated to supporting our community of emerging young adults in their recovery from behavioral health issues including anxiety, depression, isolation, and problems related to substance use and process attachments (including technology/gaming). Mark utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches that include Horticulture Therapy, solution-focused counseling, Jungian depth psychology, ecopsychology earth-based healing, rites of passage, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Mark is a Level II trained practitioner of Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), credentialed as a Master Addictions Counselor (MAC) and also incorporates Sandplay Therapy into his practice.
Mark believes Dragonfly Transitions combines innovative best practices within a unique, student-empowered and family-engaged community to a degree of quality that is unmatched. Mark is honored for the opportunity to lead our clinical team in promoting and facilitating positive change in the lives of clients and families.
Mark enjoys fishing, hunting, being on the ocean, teaching, live music, and growing food. When he’s not at our Homestead Farm and other locations working with students and our team, he is exploring the beauty and dynamic landscape of Southern Oregon along with his wife and daughter.
Position: Program Director
Tricia was born and raised in Missouri, near Kansas City. She spent a few years working in a children’s Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility in Paducah, KY working with children and adolescents ages 9 – 18 years old and from there she spent a few years in Fort Walton Beach, FL working with teenagers in the criminal justice system. Tricia moved to Sacramento, CA from St. Louis in 2019 and from Sacramento to Klamath Falls, to work for Dragonfly, September 2020. She spent the last 12.5 years helping individuals with barriers to employment find and maintain employment. Tricia worked for the State of MO for 5 years as the Program Director for the Client Work Program at a minimum security, psychiatric rehabilitation facility. Prior to that, she worked for MERS/Goodwill Industries as an Employment Specialist assisting folks with employment. Tricia also has experience as a Teacher’s Assistant, an in-home tutor, a Mental Health Technician, and as a Barista. Tricia graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Southeast Missouri State University with an emphasis in Criminal Justice, Psychological Services, and Applied Psychology. For the past 20 years, she has worked with children as young as 9 years old to senior citizens.
Tricia has a passion for social justice. She was a member of the Cultural Competence Council at St. Louis Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center as well as a member of the Racial Equity Learning Exchange where she spent 3 years going through training, with a small cohort of colleagues, to be a trainer in her community. She also volunteered with PROMO, the LGBTQ+ advocacy group for the State of Missouri.
Tricia has a long-standing passion for helping people through life transitions, such as navigating the ins and outs of finding employment. So, she is beyond excited to work for an organization that focuses on helping young adults transition into adult living.
Tricia has two dogs, Max & Mimi. In her free time, she likes spending time with her dogs as well as, hiking, reading, practicing yoga, and traveling.
Position: Quality and Systems Director
Sia has spent most of her adult life working with young people of all ages as a teacher, camp director, tutor, house parent, and mentor. She relocated to Klamath Falls from Michigan in June of 2016 where she was working as the Student Activities Coordinator and Drama teacher at a small boarding high school on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Sia has also worked extensively as a small business manager, and combines her business knowledge and experience with young people in her role at Dragonfly. Nothing makes her happier than seeing young people grow and succeed in their passions. When Sia is not at work you can usually find her enjoying the great outdoors, or playing music.
Position: Medication Manager
Kelly is a graduate of Portland State University with a Master’s in Social Work. She obtained her undergraduate degrees at the Oregon Institute of Technology to include a BS in Applied Psychology, BS in Communication Studies, and a Dispute Resolution Certificate. Kelly has completed additional graduate coursework in Behavior Modification and currently provides individual behavior support services to Dragonfly students.
She is the mental health consultant for the local Oregon Pre-Kindergarten and Migrant Head Start Programs. The Oregon Air National Guard brought Kelly and her husband, Jeff to Klamath Falls in 1987 where they have established a large family. Kelly provided foster care in Klamath County for 23 years for high risk infants and currently has a graduate certificate in Providing Therapy for Foster and Adoptive Families. She has extensive knowledge in adoption issues both international and domestic. Her background is in attachment theory and she believes that all members of the family have to work together to create a functioning system.
Kelly has been around the Dragonfly community for the past twelve years in a variety of roles. She began as a mentor and went on to complete her extern requirements for graduate school. She assisted in creating various policy and procedure manuals, worked in admissions, provided therapy, behavior support, and medication management. When she is not working or taking care of kids, Kelly likes to attend ballet, tap, jazz, or modern dance classes.
Position: HR Manager
I was born and raised in Southern California. While earning my BA in Psychology, I worked as a flight attendant, traveling and connecting with people of all walks of life. I previously worked as a crisis counselor, but decided to pursue higher education and go into the business side of healthcare. I earned my MBA from Western Governors University and have experience working for both rural clinics and a larger hospital, connecting patients to resources available to them as a Patient Advocate. Most recently, I am coming from the VA, where I did payroll for the clinical team, as well as, worked with Veterans and their families to help them navigate through the VA healthcare system.
I am married to a wildland firefighter, and Oregon is the fifth state we have lived in, and are finally calling our forever home. We have two little boys and a German Shorthair Pointer named Scout. As a family we love to hike and fish, or do anything that gets us outside and exploring.
Coming to Dragonfly as the HR manager has been an exciting opportunity to use both previous experiences along with my education to help support staff. I am looking to building strong relationships with the team and supporting Dragonfly’s mission in our community!
