Natalie Sisson, MSW

Position: Primary Therapist

Natalie comes to Dragonfly Transitions with a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia in which she graduated Cum Laude. She is also a graduate from The Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science, with an emphasis on social work and a minor in psychology and sociology. Natalie also recently taught as Adjunct Faculty working young adults at Greenville Technical College in the Human Services department. She has a passion working with teens and young adults to help them find their own personal success in life. Natalie’s career has been focused on the residential private and public-school sector; as a Therapist at a co-ed residential school for bright yet underachieving youth, and Lead Clinician of the Counseling Department at an all-girls boarding school with females that had multiple behavioral, emotional, and developmental issues. Her most recent position was working for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health as a school-based Therapist in a middle school working with students in high poverty, multiple care-giving environments, poor academic achievement, substance use, truancy, involved with the Department of Juvenile Justice, Law Enforcement, and many other agencies.

Natalie was recently certified in Trauma-Focused Therapy-CBT and strongly believes that any kind of trauma can impact the human brain; resulting in developmental, emotional, behavioral delays and clinical issues. She also co-facilitated an 8-week Dialectical Behavioral Therapy group (DBT) and uses it in her practice regularly for her work in individual or group sessions. Natalie also uses CBT in her practices helping students identify how their thoughts and beliefs, constructed from the past and currently can shape the way we think and feel about our lives; and impact the direction of our future.
