We are excited to announce our 4th annual international service trip to Cambodia. The trip is scheduled to depart on July 2nd, 2014 and return around July 26th, 2014.
Dragonfly invites 8-10 students that have demonstrated their engagement in the program and that we feel comfortable traveling with internationally. The trip is staffed with a Dragonfly therapist and two experienced mentors.
Each year students have returned having had a profound experience. The trip combines service work, international travel, and cultural immersion. Among the experiences, students volunteer at an elephant refuge, teach English to Cambodian children, and visit World Heritage Site Angkor Wat. Our students often find a greater appreciation and perspective regarding all the opportunities and resources granted them in the United States. They witness true poverty and true happiness hand in hand as they experience Cambodian culture. This can evoke greater compassion and insight, and for some propels the healing process.
Careful consideration goes into the planning of the trip and the students that are invited to participate. It is helpful for Dragonfly to know from each parent if this is something that they would be willing/able to support both financially and therapeutically.
Please feel free to discuss the possibility and therapeutic benefit with your Dragonfly therapist.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
