Originally from Chicago, Cory joined Dragonfly Transitions to integrate his professional experience in therapy and personal love for the outdoors. Cory began his counseling career at University of Illinois at Chicago, where as an undergraduate, he volunteered and eventually became a leader for a crisis hotline. Cory found that his calm demeanor and empathetic style naturally assisted his work and he found great pride in what he was doing.
Since his early high school years, Cory has been an avid rock climber. Although going to school, working, volunteering, and living in the flat planes of the Midwest limited the time he could expend to go on adventures, his passion for the sport never left him.
After undergraduate, Cory ventured in to the world and expanded his cultural experience by teaching high school in the small rice-farming town of Shinshiro, Japan, located 4 hours south west of Tokyo. After 5 months abroad, Cory returned home to Chicago and began a full time position working with adults with mental illness and going to graduate school. Cory received his Masters in Community Counseling from Argosy University in Chicago. Soon after graduating, he was transitioned to a position in his job that allowed him to do individual therapy and group therapy.
Cory holds a Licensed Professional Counselor Certification, and is a Certified Drug and Addiction Counselor in Illinois.
Cory is an outdoor enthusiast who has been limited by the flat surrounding of Chicago and is eager to explore all that Oregon has to offer. Cory believes in treating the mind, body, and spirit and takes an existential and humanistic approach to both therapy and life.
