Fall quarter is upon us which means lots of new group opportunities for our students! One of the new classes is an animal care group that is run by mentor Lauren Jones and is offered to those who live at The Homestead. Within the past couple of weeks, this group has purchased two female Nigerian Dwarf goats, one of which was pregnant. Tatertot, the pregnant doe, gave birth to one very healthy boy on October 9th. Students were given the opportunity to assist with the entire kidding process. Future animal care classes will consist of vaccinating, hoof trimming, disbudding, bloodless castration, and basic animal training skills.
